From Cape Town, the fastest route is the R62 via Worchester, Robertson, Montague, Barrydale, Ladysmith, Calitzdorp and then Oudtshoorn. Approximately a 5hour drive. Turn left at the 3rd traffic light go on the R328 to the Cango Caves. 13km out of town, the entrance will be on your left-hand side.
From Hermanus
From Hermanus, the fastest route is via the N2 through Caledon and Swellendam. Past Swellendam, take the Tradouw Pass towards Barrydale and continue with the R62 to Ladysmith, Calitzdorp and then Oudtshoorn. This is an approximately a 4hour drive Turn left at the 3rd traffic light, take the R328 to the Cango Caves. 13km out of town, the entrance will be on your left-hand side.
From Plettenberg Bay (2.5hrs) or Knysna (2hrs)
Go from Plettenberg Bay (2.4hrs) or Knysna (2hrs) take the N2 to George. Take the 1st turn-off into George, continue straight. Continue on the N12 over the Outeniqua Pass towards Oudtshoorn. Drive straight through Oudtshoorn and on the R328 to the Cango Caves. 13km out of town, the entrance will be on your left-hand side.
